The Dreaming Tree 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon

The Dreaming Tree 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon is the result of a partnership between winemaker Steve Reeder and Dave Matthews, who came together to pursue their love for “easy drinking wines with a lot of character”.

This Sonoma County, California cab is a north coast juice with a deep ruby red color unlike any I’ve seen in some time. As the light hits the wine in the glass, it shines through some of the most beautiful color you could hope to see for your $16 bones.

This wine lives up to it’s maker’s pursuit of easy drinking wine, yet it also has a bit of spice and plenty of oak notes. It’s elegant fruit flavors are very enjoyable, and are on the sweeter side of the spectrum. This wine is hands down on par with the quality of other Sonoma County producers such as Louis M Martini.

I’ll be the first to admit I was excited to see Dave’s wine on the shelf, yet skeptical of the quality from a celebrity branded product. After tasting, I’m pleased to say it’s worth every bit of $15-$16 and exceeded my expectations. I rated this bottle 90 points.

We recently reported Lady Gaga and boyfriend Taylor Kinney were spotted in Sonoma looking for a home with vineyard potential. Who do you think would win a wine battle between Dave and Gaga? Let us know on our Facebook or Twitter!
